Athens Digital Arts Festival (ADAF) returns with its 12^th edition at the historic center of Athens and invites you to its annual four-day meeting that takes place on 19 – 22 of May, at the Building Complex Gate Ermou 117 – 121. In addition, ADAF 2016 will present artworks and AV performances at the multiplex art space six d.o.g.s.

Under the theme of Digital Pop, ADAF 2016 aims to capture the different aspects of Pop in the digital era and explore how our increasing engagement with new technologies and the Internet has generated new trends and habits. Pop is characterized by the culture of "here and now". Nowadays, Pop may be as well defined by likes, shares, tweets, views or followers showing in a way the power of the people to decide about trends and attitudes but also highlighting the ephemerality of it, as the culture around us is changing at high speed.

450 artists from 60 countries will present their works through a multifaceted programme that includes interactive and audiovisual installations, video art, web art, and creative workshops for both adults and kids, launching as well a new category, ADAF KIDS. Moreover, there will be held artists' talks and presentations of international festivals, such as Japan Media Arts Festival (Japan), Loop Festival (Spain), Anima (Belgium), Locomocion (Mexico) and more. In addition, the screening programme includes: the well-known documentary The Story of Technoviking, the programme VIDEOsPAIN featuring contemporary Spanish video artists, the video art project From A to Z in Loop featuring works by students of The Department of Photography and Audiovisual Arts, ΤΕΙ of Athens and the School of Visual and Applied Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. At the same time, the gallery space of six d.o.g.s. will host the Digital Image exhibition of ADAF, a tribute to contemporary digital image and Internet culture.

From 19 to 22 of May, the Festival will present its programme of audiovisual performances at six d.o.g.s. Starting on May 19 with the exclusive event focus raster-noton, featuring artists from one of the leading international electronic music record labels and ending on May 22 with the performance Recession by the renowned collective 1024 from France, ADAF invites the audience to a series of groundbreaking audiovisual live acts.

Το Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Ψηφιακών Τεχνών της Ελλάδας, Athens Digital Arts Festival (ADAF), επιστρέφει για την ετήσια διοργάνωσή του στο ιστορικό κέντρο της Αθήνας και σας προσκαλεί σε μία τετραήμερη συνάντηση που θα πραγματοποιηθεί από τις 19 έως τις 22 Μαΐου, στο κτηριακό Συγκρότημα Πύλη Ερμού 117 – 121. Παράλληλα, το ADAF 2016 θα παρουσιάσει έργα καλλιτεχνών και AV performances στον πολυχώρο six d.o.g.s.

Με κεντρικό θέμα Digital Pop, το ADAF 2016 εξερευνά τις διαφορετικές πτυχές του Ποπ στην ψηφιακή εποχή και όπως αυτές εξελίσσονται από τη συνεχή ενασχόληση με τις νέες τεχνολογίες και το διαδίκτυο. Οτιδήποτε ορίζεται ως Ποπ, χαρακτηρίζεται από την κουλτούρα του «εδώ και τώρα». Στις μέρες μας, το Ποπ μπορεί να προσδιορίζεται μέσα από likes, shares, tweets, views ή followers φανερώνοντας κατά κάποιον τρόπο τη δύναμη του πλήθους να διαμορφώνει τάσεις και νοοτροπίες, αλλά ταυτόχρονα αυτή η δυναμική φαίνεται να είναι εφήμερη καθώς ο πολιτισμός εξελίσσεται με γρήγορους ρυθμούς.

450 καλλιτέχνες από 60 χώρες θα παρουσιάσουν τα έργα τους μέσα από ένα πολυδιάστατο πρόγραμμα που θα περιλαμβάνει διαδραστικές και οπτικοακουστικές εγκαταστάσεις, video art, διαδικτυακά έργα, δημιουργικά εργαστήρια για ενήλικες αλλά και για παιδιά, καθώς εγκαινιάζει τη νέα κατηγορία ADAF KIDS. Επιπλέον, θα πραγματοποιηθούν ομιλίες καλλιτεχνών και παρουσιάσεις διεθνών φεστιβάλ, όπως τα Japan Media Arts Festival (Ιαπωνία), Loop Festival (Ισπανία), Anima (Βέλγιο), Locomocion (Μεξικό), κ.ά. Επίσης, στο πρόγραμμα προβολών συμπεριλαμβάνονται: το πολυσυζητημένο ντοκιμαντέρ, The Story of Technoviking, το πρόγραμμα VIDEOsPAIN με έργα video art από Ισπανούς καλλιτέχνες, το πρόγραμμα From A to Z in Loop με έργα φοιτητών από το ΑΤΕΙ Αθήνας και το Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης. Στο gallery space του six d.o.g.s θα παρουσιαστεί η έκθεση Digital Image του ADAF αφιερωμένη στη σύγχρονη ψηφιακή εικόνα και την ποπ κουλτούρα του διαδικτύου.

Από τις 19 μέχρι τις 22 Μαΐου, το Φεστιβάλ θα πλαισιώνεται από οπτικοακουστικές περφόρμανς που θα πραγματοποιηθούν στο gig space του six d.o.g.s. Ξεκινώντας στις 19 Μαΐου με το exclusive event focus raster-noton με καλλιτέχνες από το διεθνές label ηλεκτρονικής μουσικής raster noton και ολοκληρώνοντας το πρόγραμμα του με την performance Recession της γνωστής κολεκτίβας 1024 από τη Γαλλία, προσκαλεί το κοινό σε μια σειρά από εντυπωσιακά οπτικοακουστικά live acts.
